ALEXANDRIA, VA-For the last three years Alexandria has been selected by Condé Nast Traveler magazine as one of the Top 5 Small Cities in the U.S. Selected by readers, Alexandria has appeared alongside Santa Fe, New Mexico and Charleston, South Carolina. The publication has opened voting for this year’s Readers’ Choice Awards.

In 2020 Condé Nast Traveler wrote: “Washingtonians are all in on the secret, but it’s no surprise the rest of the world is catching up: Alexandria, Virginia, the charming, historic city just across the Potomac River from our nation’s capital, draws travelers and would-be residents alike. Most folks start to imagine moving there just after setting foot in Old Town, once they’ve strolled the red brick sidewalks, clocking street after street of perfectly preserved rowhouses from the 18th and 19th centuries. When you visit, scope out King Street, packed with boutiques, restaurants, and specialty shops; then land at the waterfront.”

Visit Alexandria, the city’s tourism bureau, is pleased that Alexandria has been chosen once more for the reader survey. Residents can vote by visiting cntraveler.com/rca/vote. Click on “CITIES.” Sign in or create an account and search for Alexandria, VA. Voters will be entered to win a special getaway.

The following local hotels have also been nominated:

•  The Alexandrian, Autograph Collection

•  Hilton Alexandria Mark Center

•  Hilton Alexandria Old Town

•  Morrison House

•  Kimpton Lorien Hotel & Spa

Voting is open through May 31. Winners will be announced in Oct. and appear in the Nov. 2021 issue .
