ELECTED OFFICIALS TO JOIN HUNDREDS OF PET-LOVERS AT COMMUNITY BLOCK PARTY, APRIL 28

Alexandria, Va – Alexandrians are preparing to gather along Colvin and Roth Streets on Sunday, April 28, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the third annual Alexandria Love Your Pet Day Block Party. Local celebrity vet Dr. Katy Nelson of The Pet Show with Dr. Katywill be joined by Delegate Mark Levine and Alexandria City Council Members John Chapman and Amy Jackson to kick off the event at 11:15 a.m. on the Main Stage (intersection of Colvin & Sweeley Streets).  They will present the City’s official proclamation and then greet the hundreds of pet lovers and their furry friends in attendance.

Following the kick-off, the main stage will feature live entertainment as well as animal rescues with their adorable adoptables. A second performance space at 18 Roth St. will showcase interactive demos. Along the block party route, attendees will find: food trucks; children’s activities including a balloon artist, face painter, and glitter tattoo artist; and canine-oriented fun like ball pits, agility courses, and photo ops. This FREE event is expected to raise over $10,000 for the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria.
