Alexandria, VA – To celebrate Washington’s birthday, the Cherry Challenge is issued to local restaurants to celebrate the event by creating beverages, appetizers, entrees, and/or desserts to win the coveted title of the Best Cherry Challenge. The contest is sponsored by George Washington’s Mount Vernon estate. Twenty-six restaurants picked up the gauntlet and created beverages and dishes to celebrate Washington’s birthday.
