Nonprofits Team for Free Makeover to Alexandria Women’s Shelter

ALEXANDRIA, VA – Friends of Guest House, the Alexandria-based organization that helps women return to the community after incarceration, recently received a makeover. The nonprofits Hearts of Empowerment and The Oasis Alliance worked on the renovation together.

The Oasis Alliance is committed to enhancing the recovery process for trauma survivors.

Hearts of Empowerment collected $4,500 through various fundraisers for the project. They also supplied furniture and building materials with deep discounts from local hardware stores.The team worked on a new living room, reading room, kitchen, and computer area.

The work did not stop there. Two women with young children were chosen for makeovers of their rooms.
