Rebuilding Together DC • Alexandria to Host “Raise a Roof”

ALEXANDRIA,VA- Rebuilding Together DC • Alexandria, a local nonprofit organization with a mission to repair the homes of people in need and revitalize communities, will host its annual fall fundraising reception and silent auction on September 19, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Old Dominion Boat Club.

The event, called Raise a Roof, will include food, drinks, a cornhole tournament, a silent auction and raffle, and beautiful views of the Potomac River – and the great company of Rebuilding Together DC • Alexandria’s Board of Directors, sponsors, volunteers, community leaders, and staff.

All proceeds will support Rebuilding Together DC • Alexandria’s work to create healthy neighborhoods for residents in DC and Alexandria by maintaining housing for low-income homeowners; providing critical home repairs that eliminate health and safety hazards; renovating schools, parks, and other common spaces in underserved neighborhoods; and creating homeownership opportunities.

“Raise a Roof is a great opportunity each year for the community to come together, have fun, and support our critical mission,” said Katharine Dixon, President and CEO of Rebuilding Together DC • Alexandria. “The proceeds from this event will make a real difference in our community and help us serve even more individuals and families in need.”

For 33 years, over 29,000 Rebuilding Together DC • Alexandria volunteers have repaired more than 2,200 homes and public spaces, leveraging $8.8 million worth of in-kind value. By providing critical home repairs, volunteers help to preserve affordable housing in their communities. Each year, over 1,100 volunteers repair more than 100 homes throughout DC and Alexandria—all at no charge to the homeowners.
