ALEXANDRIA, VA – The Alexandria Drive-In Theatre just announced its Spring 2021 movie lineup. On March 5, the Drive-In will kick off with Jurassic Park, a movie that sold out within minutes during the premier last Summer. Funds raised from the drive-in will benefit the Athena Rapid Response Innovation Lab and help establish scholarships for Alexandria City High School Grads through The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria.

“Since the launch last August, the Alexandria Drive-In has quickly become a community staple, providing families and households with a safe activity during such a difficult time,” said Allen Brooks, Alexandria Drive-In Founder and Board Member. “The nostalgia of drive-ins mixed with the desire to be around others safely is something special, and we’re happy to be able to bring the community back together while fundraising for the Athena Rapid Response Innovation Lab as well as the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria.”

The goal of the drive-in has always been to unite and uplift the community in a year full of hardship.Thousands of people were able to escape their homes and enjoy a night out at the movies which raised over 100k for locally loved nonprofits and created many new small business opportunities. “I have never been more inspired with this community coming together as we did with the Alexandria Drive-In,” said Kelly Grant, Partner at Alx Community and Cofounder of the Alexandria Drive-In. “As Alx Community is opening its third location, we are excited that ATHENA Rapid Response is going to carry the torch and continue the Alexandria Drive In. Stay tuned for many new community based initiatives we will pioneer in 2021.”

The drive-in theatre is located in the Eisenhower section of Alexandria in the parking lot connected to a space owned by event partner Stonebridge, and can accommodate 215 cars per screening. Food truck vendors will continue to be onsite for the Spring movie showings, as an effort to support local food businesses who have been greatly impacted during the pandemic. Past onsite vendors include local favorites, such as Peruvian Brothers, DC Slices and more. Food trucks are selected through Goodfynd.

For early access to tickets and special offerings, interested parties can sign up for the Alexandria Drive-In newsletter.
