Alexandria’s Vietnam Veteran Group ‘Friends of Rocky Versace’ Trying to Raise $5,348 in One Day
ALEXANDRIA, VA – It’s Alexandria’s largest day of giving, Spring2Action today, and the “Friends of Rocky Versace” (FoRV) group is hoping Alexandrians will remember the town’s 68 Vietnam War fallen heroes memorialized in a statue on Commonwealth Avenue in front of the Mount Vernon Recreation Center.
“Your tax-deductible donations in 2019 greatly assisted the FoRV to reimburse the city of Alexandria for $18,764 in needed repairs to the 17-year old Versace Memorial,” says Kevin Rue.
The fund-raising effort for 2020 runs through Wednesday, 15 April. This year’s goal is to raise $5,438 to have on hand for preventive maintenance and to pay for future, critical repairs.
“The USMA Class of 1959 pledged $2,500 in a Dollar-for-Dollar match!” says Rue, so every dollar is doubled.
