Giving Back: Lena’s Wood-Fired Pizza & Tap Donating $9 for Every Thanksgiving Meal to ALIVE!

Alexandria, VA: During this holiday season, Lena’s Wood-Fired Pizza & Tap is showing thanks to a local organization who has provided support to Alexandrians in need for more than 50 years. For every Thanksgiving Meal Package ordered and Thanksgiving Day reservation made, Lena’s will donate $9 to ALIVE! whose programs provide essential support including shelter, food, monetary support, and basic furniture and housewares.

“ALIVE! was doing amazing things for our community before COVID hit, but it has been truly incredible what they have accomplished to help our neighbors in need during this trying time. We are thrilled to provide our Lena’s customers with the opportunity to show their support for such a critical organization while at the same time, getting a delicious Thanksgiving meal,” said Jason Yates, owner of Lena’s and President of Yates Service.

ALIVE! distributes food to those needing assistance during the pandemic two Saturdays per month, including the last Saturday, from 8:30 am – 10:30 am, or until supplies run out, in the parking lots of Cora Kelly (3600 Commonwealth Ave) and John Adams (5651 Rayburn Ave) Elementary Schools. “ALIVE! is extremely thankful for Lena’s.  They are not only helping with financial support for our work, but also raising awareness about the ongoing and increasing need for many in our community who are working hard and need a little help to make ends meet. Since the pandemic ALIVE! has been providing nearly five times more food to the community. Last month, that accounted for about 175,000 pounds of food and we continue to provide financial support for people in need. This support goes a long way toward helping our community,” said Jennifer Ayers, Executive Director ALIVE!

Lena’s is offering its customers a traditional Thanksgiving Meal Package to go as well as the opportunity to dine under the tent at Lena’s Oasis where they will be featuring a turkey dinner, prime rib and pumpkin cheesecake specials along with some of their regular menu favorites.
