Public Invited: Alexandria Appraisal Show Looking for Culinary Items, Saturday November 14

Alexandria, VA – Thanksgiving is in two weeks! Let the planning, shopping, and indulging begin. And right around the corner, over the river and through the woods, the holiday season beckons with sweets, treats, and feasts.

Annual traditions have us reaching for our favorite recipes and the gadgets, utensils, and dishes that bring the finished products to the table. But, where did we get those sterling silver salad servers? What about that gravy ladle, serving dish, antique tureen, and those odd little salt and pepper shakers?

Most items are likely inherited from parents and grandparents. Have you ever wondered how old that sterling platter is? What do the markings underneath mean? How about a coffee or tea service? Do you have a peculiar Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, or Christmas tchotchke that you adore but wonder about its history?

We can help! Bring your items to the Del Ray Vintage and Flea Market, at 1900 Mount Vernon Avenue in Alexandria, Virginia this Saturday, November 14, between 9 am and 1 pm. Appraiser Monika Schiavo is looking for food-themed items to highlight for Z-TV’s Thanksgiving episode of “Trash or Treasure”, which will air Wednesday, November 25. Now’s the time to see if that peacock pitcher has a fun story worth preening about!

Hope to see you there!
