On behalf of Hope For The Warriors, West Springfield Girl Scout Troop 947 recently came together with other area Girl Scout troops for a rock painting event to honor fallen military members.

Celebrating 11 years of service, Hope For The Warriors assists veterans, service members and military families with a variety of programming including clinical health and wellness, sports and recreation and transition.

Put together and led by Girl Scout Silver project participant Grace Wevley, the hand-painted, inspirational rocks will be presented to Gold Star Families on Memorial Day to place on their loved ones’ final resting place at Arlington National Cemetery.

Wevley shares how her Girl Scout Silver project not only honors those lost while serving but all veterans.

“This project is special to me because my dad recently retired from the military and I feel like all who have served should be honored,” said Wevley. “This project shows families who have lost loved ones that others like me and my troop members respect their service.”
