ALEXANDRIA, VA – The Living Legends of Alexandria has announced its 2025 class of honorees—twelve remarkable individuals whose lasting contributions have shaped the city’s culture, service, leadership, and legacy.
Each year, the Living Legends program recognizes Alexandrians who have made extraordinary contributions to the community. These individuals come from diverse backgrounds but share a profound commitment to making Alexandria a better place for everyone.
The 2025 Living Legends of Alexandria are:
- Mary Lee Anderson
- Ana Bonilla-Galdamez
- Gerald File
- Charlotte Hall
- Iburia Hall-Haynes
- Noah Lyles
- David Mercer
- Robyn Nichols
- Patrick O’Brien
- Kitty Porterfield
- Adrienne Terrell Washington
- Gerald Wanzer
These civic champions include nonprofit leaders, advocates for equity and education, champions of the arts, sports heroes, and individuals whose quiet, persistent work has transformed lives behind the scenes.
From Olympic gold medalist Noah Lyles, whose global success continues to inspire local youth, to longtime community leader Mary Lee Anderson, whose work has advanced services for older adults across the city, each honoree embodies the spirit of Alexandria.
The Living Legends of Alexandria nonprofit preserves and promotes the history of these modern-day trailblazers through photography, storytelling, and public recognition.
A celebration and formal recognition event will be held later this year. Details about the ceremony, public exhibits, and opportunities to honor the 2025 Legends will be announced soon.
