LIVE AUTHOR INTERVIEW: Amy Shira Teitel’s Book “Fighting for Space”, the Story of Two Female Pilots Competing for Space Flight

ALEXANDRIA, VA – At 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, you can join the conversation when noted You Tube influencer and space historian Amy Shira Teitel talks frankly about her new book, Fighting for Space, the inspirational and true story of two early female aviators both struggling to become the first female in space.

Teitel will be interviewed by Ralph Peluso in a livestreaming broadcast on Z-TV, the video arm of Alexandria, Virginia’s largest media resource, The Zebra Press about the two trailblazing women, Jackie Cochran and Jerrie Cobb, who bring new meaning to ‘breaking the glass ceiling’.

“When the space age dawned in the late 1950s, Jackie Cochran held more propeller and jet flying records than any pilot of the twentieth century—man or woman. She had led the Women’s Auxiliary Service Pilots during the Second World War, was the first woman to break the sound barrier, ran her own luxury cosmetics company, and counted multiple presidents among her personal friends. She was more qualified than any woman in the world to make the leap from atmosphere to orbit. Yet it was Jerrie Cobb, twenty-five years Jackie’s junior and a record-holding pilot in her own right, who finagled her way into taking the same medical tests as the Mercury astronauts. The prospect of flying in space quickly became her obsession,” says Amazon.

Ralph and Amy invite viewers to join the live conversation about the early days of female aviation and spaceflight. To watch the program live, click here for more information.
