Beloved Family Pet “Theo” Crosses Rainbow Bridge
We are sorry to announce the passing of “Theo” Harris, the loving dog of Tracie and Matt Harris, long-time residents of Alexandria.
Alexandria, VA – We are sorry to announce the passing of “Theo” Harris, the loving dog of Tracie and Matt Harris, long-time residents of Alexandria. Theo was rescued from a “high kill” shelter in rural West Virginia, via Homeward Trails, in January 2008. He was a jet-black lab mix who cherished couch-time on a warm lap above all else. This said, for the past twelve and a half years, he enjoyed all the canine amenities that our wonderful city has to offer. Early on, he was an outreach specialist, frequently appearing at one local political party’s weekend campaign events, often donning the stickers of his favorite candidates.
He was the gentlest of beasts, who touched everyone’s heart. Dog parks did not work for him, as he would wind up showing more interest in other humans than dogs. After “merging families” in 2014, Theo became the big – though not in size – brother to “Hudson,” an urban, though not urbane, rescue from St. Louis, MO. Following a rough start, the two became best friends, protectors, and co-conspirators.
The hearts in our family are collectively grieving, but our heads will be indelibly filled with the most wonderful memories of a great dog.
—Tracie, Matt & Hudson Harris
