Alexandria, VA – George Mason University has named Alexandria’s own David Lord as the recipient of its 2025–2026 Adjunct Teaching Excellence Award, the institution’s highest honor for adjunct faculty.

Lord, who teaches Criminal Procedure at the university’s Antonin Scalia Law School, was recognized for his exceptional commitment to students and his ability to bring real-world legal experience into the classroom.

“Teaching Criminal Procedure at Mason has been one of the best parts of my professional life and this means a lot,” Lord said. “A special thank you to my students who push me to get better every semester.”

In addition to his teaching role, Lord serves as Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney for the City of Alexandria, where he is known for his deep experience in criminal law. His dual roles—as both prosecutor and educator—allow him to offer students a practical, firsthand understanding of the legal system.

The Adjunct Teaching Excellence Award highlights faculty who make a meaningful impact on students’ academic and professional development, and Lord’s recognition underscores his dedication both in the courtroom and the classroom.
