Alexandria, VA – A new national survey reveals something powerful about local business communities: people trust their chambers of commerce — a lot.
According to a recent Harris Poll, 81% of consumers say they trust their local chamber as a key partner for businesses. But there’s a catch. Fewer than 40% can identify which businesses in their community are actually chamber members.
That gap represents a missed opportunity — and a powerful one.
For The Chamber ALX, it’s also a call to action. This year, the organization is launching “Trust Is a Mark,” a campaign designed to help Chamber members turn that trust into visibility.
The message is simple: membership matters — and it should be seen.
Through updated window clings and membership cards, businesses are encouraged to proudly display their Chamber affiliation — a visible signal of credibility, accountability, and community investment. When customers recognize that mark, it reinforces confidence and strengthens local connections.

Chamber members can request materials by contacting Tony Curry Fisher at [email protected].
And for businesses not yet part of The Chamber ALX, the message is equally clear: consumers already trust the Chamber. Joining means being recognized as part of that trusted network.
In a competitive marketplace, trust isn’t just earned. It’s displayed.
