Alexandria-Born NFL Player in Super Bowl Next Week

ALEXANDRIA, VA-When you watch the Super Bowl next week, keep an eye out for no. 48 of the San Fransisco 49ers. He has local ties. Linebacker Oren Burks was born in Alexandria on March 21, 1995.

He was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in 2018 from Vanderbilt University. Burks was sent to the 49ers via a trade in 2022.

According to Pro Football Reference, he played in 15 regular season games in 2023, making 29 solo tackles and earning one sack. This postseason, Burks made two solo tackles in the win over Green Bay and one assist in the NFC Championship win over Detroit.

Super Bowl LVIIII is Sunday, Feb. 11. The 49ers and Chiefs kick off at 6:30 p.m. on CBS from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
