Sarah Bagley Enters Race for Alexandria City Council Bringing Affordable Housing Experience
Alexandria, VA – Sarah Bagley is in the race for one of six seats on Alexandria’s City Council in the upcoming, June 8th, Democratic primary.
A native Virginian, Bagley resides in Old Town and is an attorney and Executive Director of an affordable housing non-profit, The Chisom Housing Group. In a press release issued today, Sarah says she “is eager to bring her advocacy skills and grassroots activism to work in service to the citizens of Alexandria.”
As an active member of the Alexandria Democratic Committee, Bagley has acted as a precinct captain and deputy captain, and has also served as a leader in the local Moms Demand Action chapter for Alexandria, and as an organizer of a grassroots postcards to voters campaign.
“The past year has wreaked havoc on so many lives. I’ve watched as we’ve come together to support each other and find solace in our neighbors, families and friends. Our community is hurting, small businesses are fighting to stay afloat, and the pandemic has burdened households with new emotional and financial debt,” Bagley says.
She continues, “You deserve a council member that leads with knowledge, compassion, and empathy. A voice on the city council that understands the importance of affordable housing, relief for small businesses, and racial and economic equity. In a time when we are facing so many unprecedented struggles, we need fierce, unwavering leadership making sure that we all can thrive in this new reality.”
