Adopt a Pet in Alexandria: Meet Popeye

ALEXANDRIA, VA-Popeye is a two-year-old male cat who has waited a long time to find a home. Popeye arrived at the AWLA in September with a very bad wound to his head and neck. They are not sure what caused the wound, but it was certainly painful. Unfortunately, Popeye contracted a secondary infection from the wound. He spent months being expertly treated by medical and animal care teams. Today he’s on the road to full recovery. He still likes to sport his fun sweaters to keep him from itching his injuries, but they just add to his kitty charisma. Popeye is sweet, friendly, and affectionate — despite his grumpy glare. He loves to be scratched and play with pipe cleaners. Popeye is a charmer and easily gets along with those around him.

AWLA is located at 4101 Eisenhower Ave. Founded in 1946, the AWLA has supported and served as a resource for homeless animals. The organization remains an integral part of the community by providing opportunities for adoption, spay and neuter assistance, education, and outreach. To learn more, visit alexandriaanimals.org.
