Alexandria Mayor Assures Residents that City Does Not Participate in Immigration Raids

"The City also remains committed to upholding the civil rights of all individuals, regardless of immigration status."

ALEXANDRIA, VA – This morning, Alexandria’s new Mayor Alyia Gaskins released a statement assuring residents that “the city does not participate in federal immigration enforcement.”

Specifically, Gaskins outlines, “The City of Alexandria’s law enforcement officers do not participate in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (“ICE”) raids or arrests to enforce immigration laws. This applies to Alexandria police officers, deputy sheriffs and fire marshals.”

Immigration raids are supposedly taking place in three U.S. cities per week.
