Alexandria, VA – After more than 90 years of service, The Twig has made one of its largest contributions yet.

The Junior Auxiliary of Inova Alexandria Hospital—known as The Twig—has donated $2 million to support the new hospital under construction at the former Landmark Mall site. In recognition, the facility’s conference center will bear The Twig’s name.

Founded in 1933, the all-volunteer group has raised more than $7 million for patient care and hospital improvements.

“This gift represents both our history and our future,” said Twig President Lori Ring.

“This extraordinary commitment reflects the deep partnership between our hospital and the Alexandria community,” added Dr. Rina Bansal.

The new hospital, expected to open in 2028, will replace the current facility with a modern campus featuring approximately 192 private patient beds and expanded specialty services, including advanced cardiac, neuroscience, and cancer care.
