Alexandria, VA – Little Birdie, 1504B Mount Vernon Ave., should be open by the time you read this. After eating there during a mock service, we found the ambiance and food all ready to welcome the public. As mentioned before, the restaurant focuses on chicken with forays into seafood, salads, burgers, and more to entice almost everyone.

To feed both kids and adults, share the Tendie Tower. The two levels of goodies feature real crispy chicken tenders (not mystery nuggets) of well-seasoned pieces of chicken breast. The breading is not too thick, not too thin, and yes, just right. The chicken is accompanied by sidewinder fries (you’ll know them when you see them), and a variety of salads, slaws, sauces, and pickles. The Biddy Sauce is a definite go-to. And the hot sauce? It’s HOT. The Filet ‘O’ Fish sandwich features a large piece of fresh fish on a roll with tomato, bibb lettuce, and an amazing caper tartar sauce. That sauce is so good, it would be fabulous on the chicken tenders. A People’s Favorite from Taste of Del Ray, Crack Chicken Dip, is also on the menu for you to indulge. Vegetarians will enjoy the Cold Noodle Salad made with buckwheat noodles, a creamy sesame vin, and a variety of fresh veggies.

Operating hours are Tuesday-Friday: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday–Saturday: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
