Alexandria, VA – Tea lovers may soon have another reason to linger near Alexandria City Hall. Seven Teahouse is preparing to open at 101 S. Royal St., bringing traditional teas and an emphasis on the ritual of brewing to Old Town.

The business began at a Loudoun County farmers market and opened its first permanent shop in Leesburg in 2024. Its selections include loose-leaf and bagged black, white, green, and oolong teas. The Leesburg location also offers guided tastings, brewing workshops, a “Matcha Lab,” coffee, and pastries.

Co-founder Abigail Johnson describes the appeal this way: “Remember, every cup holds a story, a memory, and a little bit of magic.” The company says its name also refers to a more personal seventh category of tea, beyond the six traditional types.

As of late October, signs in the Old Town windows advertised a fall opening, but no exact date had been announced.
