Giving Back: Alexandria Drive-In Donates Over $20,000 to Scholarship Fund
ALEXANDRIA, VA-The Alexandria Drive-In has been a massive hit over the last year, giving families something to look forward to during such an uncertain time. On March 3, The Garden and ALX Community – organizing partners of the Drive-In – donated $20,700 in proceeds to the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria (SFA).
The funds will help T.C. Williams High School’s Class of 2021 as they start at universities in the fall.
“I have never been more inspired with this community coming together as we did with the Alexandria Drive-In, said ALX Community’s Kelly Grant, who founded the Drive-In. “Its impact will have a ripple effect on our community for years to come; this check of over $20,000 is just the start.”
Since its first year in 1986, SFA has raised more than 16.5 million in scholarships, giving 5,000 students the opportunity to pursue higher education.
Rosie Wiedemer, SFA Relationship Manager, expressed thanks to Grant and The Garden’s COO Allen Brooks “for bringing the SFA in as a participating charity so that together we can send more Alexandria students with financial need to college,”
Wiedemer also thanked volunteers and families for their simultaneous support of the Drive-In and SFA.
