Second Plaque for Deceased Vietnam Soldiers Will Be Dedicated June 14 in Alexandria
ALEXANDRIA, VA-This Flag Day, June 14, a plaque will be dedicated by the Veterans American Legion Post 24 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 609. Identical to the plaque placed at the WWI Memorial on Callahan Dr. on Memorial Day, it honors the Alexandrians who lost their lives during the Vietnam War. The dedication is made possible with a partnership from the Office of Historic Alexandria.
The dedication ceremony will begin at 6 pm. It begins inside the American Legion Post 24 Ballroom, 400 Cameron Street. A reception will follow. The marker will be placed on a wall on the outside of the property.
“We must honor the bravery and sacrifice of our Vietnam War Veterans,” said director of the Office of Historic Alexandria, Gretchen Bulova. “These new plaques serve as a permanent reminder of their service and our gratitude.”
The public is invited to attend. Those interested are asked to be present by 5:45 pm. Street parking and underground garages are available. See the map of garages HERE.
