Alexandria Sheriff Casey Graduates National Leadership Program
ALEXANDRIA, VA-The FBI Academy in Quantico held a professional development program last month that welcomed 28 sheriffs from across the country. One of the graduates is Alexandria Sheriff Sean Casey. The Leadership Development Course, designed by the National Sheriffs’ Institute, is for first-term sheriffs. Its goal is to help them develop an effective leadership style. After the course, graduates are able to use what they’ve learned in their offices and communities.
The program, offered at no cost, covers subjects such as “leadership during conflict and crisis, building and maintaining professional ethics, community engagement, organizational communications, [and[ developing external partnerships,” according to a press release.
Last year, Casey completed the Senior Management Institute for Police conducted by the Police Executive Research Forum. In 2019, he the Leadership in Police Organizations program with the International Association of Chiefs of Police. He has also earned the Certified Public Management designation from The George Washington University.
