ALEXANDRIA, VA-The Del Ray Pop-Up Bar, located at 2312 Mount Vernon Avenue, has been consistently seeing tremendous numbers of patrons ever since the bar launched a Taylor Swift theme, attracting people of all ages both in and out of the city.. Run by the Del Ray Pork Barrel Barbeque leadership team, the Taylor Swift themed bar is proving to be a unique and exciting business that both complements the others on Mount Vernon Avenue, while also standing out on its own.
“It doesn’t slow down ! ”, bartender Dida exclaimed, describing the popularity of the bar within the community. “We have a line pretty much all day on Saturday, which is our busiest day … Saturday we open at two [in the afternoon], but we are thinking about opening a little earlier”, she said.
This move i would accommodate the consistently large crowds flocking to this exciting new establishment. The bar provides a fully immersive ‘Swiftie’ fandom experience, with cocktail and mocktail menus inspired by Swift’s discography. Spotify links are embedded into the menu.
Inside, find wall-to-wall concert memorabilia, concert pictures from local Alexandrians, Swiftie inside jokes and lore, and album cover art. The bar is family friendly, and also features a bracelet making class on Sunday, so the whole family can take part in this fun, engaging, and interactive experience.
“We thought this would be a great idea, because Taylor Swift touches so many people, and we’ve always been a family friendly place”, Dida said about the inspiration behind the theme and the welcoming community-oriented environment that the bar curates.
“[B]y getting into this idea and learning about it, we just ran with it,” she said, reflecting on the incredible growth and success of the bar and how the Swiftie fandom has positively impacted the bar’s leadership and staff. In fact, the patronage of the bar has been so popular in these first few weeks of opening that it is slated to likely remain open through July.
