Alexandria, VA – The City of Alexandria has rededicated Calhoun Avenue as Robert L. “Bob” Calhoun Avenue, honoring the longtime public servant and former vice mayor.

Robert L. “Bob” Calhoun served on City Council and later in the Virginia Senate, where he was known for his thoughtful leadership and focus on regional collaboration. He helped shape local transportation policy and played a key role in establishing the city’s DASH bus system. He was named a Living Legend of Alexandria in 2012.

The rededication is part of the city’s ongoing Street Renaming initiative, aimed at aligning public spaces with community values.

The change is ceremonial and does not affect residents’ addresses or official documents.
