ALEXANDRIA, VA – Virginia’s American Revolution 250 Commission is taking its history celebration on the road, and Alexandria is one of its next stops. The VA250 Mobile Museum Experience, a quad-expandable tractor-trailer billed as a “museum on wheels,” will park on the Alexandria waterfront during the Sails on the Potomac festival June 12–14. The stop is part of Virginia’s broader America 250 commemoration effort.

According to the Virginia American Revolution 250 Commission, the Mobile Museum is “a hands-on, interactive, and immersive ‘museum on wheels’ that brings key stories of Virginia’s rich Revolutionary history to life and highlights every region of the Commonwealth.”

The traveling exhibit, titled Out of Many, One, is designed as an interactive, immersive look at the American Revolution and Virginia’s role in it. Commission materials describe the exhibit as showcasing “Virginia’s vital role in the fight for independence” and say it is “designed to inspire future generations.”

The Mobile Museum will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the three-day festival, and admission is free. Organizers say the attraction is family-friendly and intended for visitors of all ages, from school groups and history buffs to casual festival-goers looking for an educational stop between waterfront activities.

Sails on the Potomac is part of Alexandria’s larger role in America’s 250th anniversary and showcases the city’s contributions to the Revolutionary cause through tall ship visits, live performances, exhibits and special events. The VA250 Mobile Museum adds a statewide perspective to that lineup, bringing stories from across the Commonwealth to the city’s waterfront and giving fresh context to Alexandria’s Revolutionary-era history.
