The Great Cameron Run Scooter Getaway Did Not Go as Planned
Two masked suspects allegedly stole more than $200 before fleeing together on a single Lime scooter.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — It was not exactly Ocean’s Eleven.
Two masked suspects allegedly robbed the batting-cage concession stand at Cameron Run Regional Park—and then attempted their getaway together on one Lime scooter.
A Lime scooter is built for one person. According to reporting by ALXnow, which cited a recently unsealed search warrant affidavit, the suspects apparently decided it could also serve as a two-person escape vehicle.
The robbery reportedly began around 9:40 p.m. on Aug. 1 at the park, located at 4001 Eisenhower Avenue.
An employee inside the concession stand heard someone knock at the door. When he opened it, he reportedly encountered two people dressed in black clothing and black face masks.
One suspect allegedly grabbed and restrained the employee while the other went to the cash register and removed more than $200, according to the affidavit. The pair then fled—both aboard the same Lime scooter.
Their transportation choice was apparently not the alleged plan’s only weak point.
An Alexandria Police Department investigator reviewing security video reportedly noticed that one suspect appeared to be wearing the same fitted black jeans, white socks and black sneakers worn earlier that day by a 15-year-old concession-stand employee.
The teenager had reportedly finished his shift and left the park shortly before 6 p.m.
Alexandria police confirmed to ALXnow that one suspect was arrested but did not provide further information. Because the suspect is a juvenile, The Zebra will not publish identifying information.
The date of the arrest and the specific charges were not immediately available. Police have not announced an arrest of the second suspect or said whether investigators are asking the public for assistance.
All allegations involving the juvenile remain allegations unless proven in court.
The reported take was slightly more than $200. Divided between two people, it was not much of a haul—especially after factoring in the scooter fare.
