Alexandria’s Final Farmers Market Pop-Up Is Friday—Use Those Benefits Before They Expire
The final seasonal pop-up will accept Senior Farmers Market Benefits, EBT, cash and credit cards
ALEXANDRIA, VA — Alexandria’s seasonal farmers-market pop-ups are making one final stop next Friday—and the timing matters for older residents with unused market benefits.
The City’s Division of Aging and Adult Services will hold the last pop-up of the season from 12:30–3:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, at Claridge House II, 301 N. Ripley St.
According to a Sept. 11 Alexandria eNews release, shoppers will be able to buy locally grown produce and herbs. The market will accept EBT, cash and credit cards.
Older adults who received Senior Farmers Market Benefits may also use their remaining benefits at the event. That makes the pop-up more than a convenient neighborhood produce stop: it is a final seasonal opportunity for eligible residents to put those benefits toward fresh local food.
The event is part of the City’s work to connect older Alexandrians with food and community resources through the Division of Aging and Adult Services.
Because this is the final pop-up of the season, shoppers hoping for particular produce should consider arriving early. The City did not provide a vendor list or guarantee which fruits, vegetables or herbs will remain available throughout the afternoon.
