ALEXANDRIA, VA – In a late afternoon press release emailed on Friday, December 13, 2019, the City of Alexandria communicated that the Waterfront Commission will be holding a community meeting next Thursday to discuss what to do with a section of land at the base of King Street.

2 King Street is not part of the new Waterfront Park, but is the remaining portion of the land the City acquired through its settlement agreement with the Old Dominion Boat Club. The piece is question has eight parking spaces across Strand Street, and it is currently leased for private parking.

The City has not decided on the future use of these eight parking spaces and is interested in hearing from the public about what kinds of public or private uses would be desirable.

The meeting will be held on Thursday, December 19, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in City Hall Sister Cities Conference Room 1101 (301 King St.).
