Titan Pride: Signs of Support Popping Up in Alexandria Yards
"You are a special class that will change the world," says Mayor Justin Wilson.
ALEXANDRIA, VA – Alexandrians are displaying yard signs to show moral support for more than 700 seniors at T.C. Williams High School who will be missing out on the traditional rites of passage like the senior prom and commencement exercises.
The popular signs are usually put out annually by proud parents, and last year they sold out three times, but right now there is a real movement afoot to purchase a sign to join in the community’s collected sorrow and help raise funds during this unprecedented situation.
On Saturday, April 4, Alexandria’s Mayor Justin Wilson posted a photo of one of the yard signs on his social media encouraging members of the community to purchase the signs as a show of support for the Class of 2020, saying “You are a special class that will change the world.”
All proceeds will support the PTSA’s new initiative, Titans Care COVID Relief Fund. The signs can be purchased online for $20.00, and there are magnets available for only $5.00.
