The Heatwave Continues: Cooling Centers Open in Alexandria Through Thursday

ALEXANDRIA, VA – Late last week The Zebra reported that the City of Alexandria had opened a number of cooling centers to help protect residents from the extreme heat.

Now the city has decided to keep cooling centers open through Thursday. If you are outside and feel overcome by the heat or your house air conditioning is not working, you can go to these places:

• Open July 22 and 23: Oswald Durant Center (1605 Cameron St.), 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
• Open July 22 and 23: T.C. Williams High School Minnie Howard Campus (3801 W. Braddock Road), 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
• Open July 23 only: Torpedo Factory Art Center (105 N. Union St.), 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

All locations are taking precautions against coronavirus. This includes social distancing protocols and body temperature check.
