New Art Show: The Off Hours by Eric Stewart
Have you ever wondered what DC looks like while the world sleeps?
Local photographer Eric Stewart has compiled a unique collection of imagery highlighting the haunting beauty of our deserted DC Metro area, captured in the wee hours of the morning. You will see famous landmarks and stunning architecture, captured in such a way we can only describe as haunting.
Eric is passionate about his craft. What he captures with his lens aren’t just famous landmarks, they’re uncertain futures, abandoned pasts, subtle realities; subtle realities like the ones found in his images allow us to take possession of our own past and place. His images create an empty space in which we can mitigate our own history through our own conspicuous absence. They seek to violate the nature of seeing by seeking the shady commerce between art and reality, thereby allowing the spectator to inhabit a world that is both familiar and haunting in its uncertainty.
Head to Local Colour Saturday, February 25th from 4 to 8 pm to celebrate Eric’s truly unique vision. The event is free and family friendly. Bring friends! Complimentary refreshments will be served.
