Senior Volunteer Opportunities

Are You 55+? Do You Want to Volunteer and Give Back?

RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program), the region’s largest volunteer network for those 55-years-old and better, provides personalized support to seniors and retirees who are seeking their ideal service opportunities in and around Fairfax County, Arlington County and the City of Alexandria.

RSVP offers more than 300 meaningful opportunities that include helping seniors age in place, assisting local food pantries, and teaching financial literacy. RSVP also recruits volunteers for various community events including the annual Northern Virginia Senior Olympics. Several of RSVP’s nonprofit partners offer opportunities in the Falls Church area including New Hope Housing (operator of the Bailey’s Crossroad Shelter), The Literacy Council of Northern Virginia and Food for Others, a food bank in Merrifield.

Attendees will not only learn about the services RSVP provides but will also hear from the shelters staff regarding the critical role volunteers play in supporting the homeless, according to Hubicki.

RSVP volunteers enjoy flexible schedules, free accident and liability insurance while serving, optional mileage and meal reimbursement and are also invited to monthly volunteer group service projects and social gatherings.

Chesterbrook Residences, located at 2030 Westmoreland Street, Falls Church, VA, is sponsoring the event and will provide a free lunch to all registered participants.
