Final Call! Let Your Words Ride through Alexandria
Submit your Poem to the 12th Annual DASHing Words in Motion Contest

The clock is ticking—don’t miss your chance to ride your words through Alexandria! The City of Alexandria’s Office of the Arts, in partnership with DASH, invites you to take part in a cherished local tradition: the 12th annual DASHing Words in Motion poetry contest.
If you’re 16 or older and live, work, or study in Alexandria, this is your opportunity to share an original poem that reflects your voice, creativity, and connection to the city we call home.
Winning poems will travel the city all April during National Poetry Month, displayed inside DASH buses and trolleys—turning daily commutes into unexpected moments of art and inspiration for thousands of riders.
Submit your poem by Friday, January 16, 2026, at 5 p.m.
