AGENDA: ALEXANDRIA 2018-19 SEASON

In-depth and Unbiased Examination of the City’s Thorniest Issues

Entering its third decade, Alexandria:Alexandria plans to examine some of the thorniest issues affecting the city during its 2018-2019 season. The season opens September 24 with a focus on affordable housing – from the definition to the city’s current inventory and how to expand it. The forum will also examine the role and operation of the Housing Trust Fund, for which City Council recently approved a dedicated 1-cent increase in the real estate tax. The program, preceded by an optional dinner, will take place at The Hermitage Auditorium beginning at 7:15.

Founded in 1998 to provide a forum of in-depth and unbiased discussion of city issues, Agenda: Alexandria celebrated its 20th Anniversary on June 10. “Our current board of directors is excited to build on the 20-year history of this organization by looking at issues without taking sides,” said Michael Lee Pope, chairman of Agenda:Alexandria.

“From affordable housing and predatory lending to bullying in schools and the future of Landmark Mall, the upcoming season of Agenda:Alexandria promises to be one of our most provocative, exploring a wide variety of issues facing the city,” he expanded.
