ALEXANDRIA, VA – The Alexandria Republican City Committee cancelled their scheduled canvas and nominated Julie Robben Lineberry for the February 10, 2026, special election for Virginia State Senate District 39.

With deep roots in Alexandria spanning decades, Lineberry has dedicated her career and volunteer life to strengthening local institutions, supporting families, and ensuring fair and accountable civic processes.

“I’m not a career politician,” Lineberry said. “But when I saw what was going on, I couldn’t just sit back and let this election go uncontested. I’m running to return a bipartisan voice and spirit of cooperation to the State Senate.”

As a realtor for more than four decades, Lineberry helped generations of families navigate the housing market and put down roots in the very communities she now seeks to represent. Her commitment to public service is equally enduring. She served for 10-plus years on the Alexandria Electoral Board, including terms as Chair and Secretary, overseeing dozens of elections and safeguarding the integrity of the democratic process.

“Julie has consistently been a leader in our community over many years, and I’m glad to see her running for State Senate,” said former Alexandria City Councilman Frank Fannon. “Her campaign is based on principle, not ambition, as she represents the views of a large portion of Alexandrians.”

A lifelong advocate for women and girls, Lineberry was honored by The Alexandria Commission on Women with the Marguerite Payez Award for Outstanding Community Service. Her more than half-century involvement with the Girl Scouts reflects a sustained commitment to mentoring young women, fostering leadership, and preserving opportunities for future generations.

Lineberry’s service extends to healthcare, faith, and civic life. She has served as President of the Inova Alexandria Hospital TWIG Auxiliary, volunteered extensively with local nonprofits and as a substitute teacher in Alexandria public schools, and remains active in ministries at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Chris Howell, Chairman of the Alexandria Republican City Committee, said “Julie Lineberry gives voters the option to elect someone to the Senate who will represent all of us, not just the liberal fringe. She is a long-time member of our city and has served our community for over 40 years.”

“Lineberry is a perfect fit for this district,” said Matthew Hurtt, Chairman of the Arlington County Republican Committee. “She has deep ties to the community, an expansive understanding of the local economy through her experience in real estate, and a heart for civic and community service,” he added.

Lineberry faces Democrat Elizabeth Bennett-Parker, who won her party’s nomination in a four-way fire-house primary on February 10. The seat is currently held by Adam Ebbin, who resigned effective February 18 to take a position in Governor Abigail Spanberger’s administration. The 39th District includes all of the city of Alexandria as well as parts of Arlington and Fairfax County.
