Alexandria, VA – The Cut Butchery is always looking for new ways to satisfy its clientele, and this fall looks to be a knockout. From tea towels to ice cream to granola, you never know what’s going to be in store at The Cut. Recently, the folks at F.T. Valley Farm in the Shenandoah, owned by the Penkiunas family here in Alexandria, dropped off apples and peaches, and the lucky customers who happened to be shopping that day snatched them up. Be sure to stop in often! Read on for what you can expect this fall.

Charcuterie

Charcuterie boards debuted a couple of weeks ago. These beauties are getting the white glove treatment with top quality cheese, hand selected by Katie, the in-house cheese monger, as the star of the show.  Accompanying the various cheeses are a nice variety of cured meats, pickled vegetables, fresh vegetables and fruit, jams and chutneys, and delicious crackers to scoop it all up. If you want to make your own board, The Cut sells all the accessories you need, including dried citrus.

It’s all about the accessories, right? The Cut is well stocked to add a little sparkle to its delicious charcuterie ingredients. These dried citrus slices can do double duty at your beverage bar as well.

These custom boards can be pre-ordered up to two days in advance. For excellent concierge service, call Katie at The Cut for a tasting menu and consultation, or just stop into the shop.

Tailgate Packs

It’s fall, and that means football. The Cut is offering a convenient Tailgate Pack with queso, fish dip, breadsticks, smoked sausages, mustard, burnt ends, etc. Call the shop to pre-order or stop in and chat about your specific choices.

These standup boxes have windows and handles, so you can easily carry them to the tailgate or a friend’s house, or you can set them on your own table and zhuzh it all up as you wish. Everything is self-contained and ready to eat. Portions will feed 6-8 people. Call the store or stop in for more information and to pre-order.

Thanksgiving Turkeys on the Horizon

In September, about 60 days before Thanksgiving, The Cut will host a carving demonstration with three roasted KellyBronze wild turkeys (and free samples!). Raised on the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia, KellyBronze turkeys are fresh and unlike any turkeys you see in the grocery store. They cost a bit more but they are world renowned for the quality and taste. Plus they cook in about half the time of the grocery store turkey.

Learn all about them and have plenty of time to place your order for Thanksgiving. And stay tuned for future educational demonstrations, including how to prep and tie a beef tenderloin.
