ALEXANDRIA, VA – Get ready for pup-kin spice season! Paws in the Park is back at Oronoco Bay Park in Old Town Alexandria on Sunday, October 12, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This free, family-friendly fall festival is a celebration of Northern Virginia’s deep love for animals, featuring live music, shopping, adoptable pets, and activities for kids and adults alike.

With dozens of local artisans, nonprofits, animal-focused vendors, and food and beverage stands, there’s something for everyone. Attendees can enjoy treats from local breweries, wineries, cideries, bakeries, and food trucks—or bring a picnic and relax while soaking up the fall vibes.

Looking to adopt? Rescue Row, sponsored by First Georgetown Securities, will feature animal welfare groups and pet rescues with adoptable pets ready to meet their future families.

Live entertainment kicks off at 11 a.m. on the Main Stage, sponsored by Alexandria Toyota, and includes fan-favorite musical guests like bilingual children’s group 123 Andrés. A highlight of the day is the Pet Costume Contest, sponsored by realtor Bobby Mahoney of Corcoran McEnearney, with prizes for the spookiest, funniest, and most creative costumes.

Pet Costume Contest registration is now open for a $25 donation to the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (AWLA). Costumes aren’t required—borrow one from the on-site pet costume closet! Last-minute signups will be accepted until 12:30 p.m.

The event also features a Family Fun Tent, sponsored by St. Stephen’s St. Agnes School, offering arts, crafts, and games for children of all ages. Meanwhile, the Silent Auction Tent offers the chance to bid on unique items and experiences, with the auction open until 3:30 p.m. on event day.

“We celebrate the love we share with our animals every day,” said CEO Stella Hanly, “and Paws in the Park is one of our favorite ways to connect with that community, meet a lot of amazing pet families, and raise awareness and funds for Alexandria’s animals.”

The first 1,000 attendees will receive an exclusive swag bag. Leashed, well-behaved pets of all kinds are welcome. Proceeds from the Costume Contest and Silent Auction benefit AWLA, supporting homeless pets and pet owners in need throughout Alexandria.
