ALEXANDRIA, VA – The City of Alexandria is asking residents for help. They are seeking input for the Old Cameron Run Trail Project. The project concerns a 0.53-mile shared-use path between Hooffs Run Drive in Eisenhower East and South Payne Street.

A city news bulletin indicates: “The purpose of this project is to provide a safe, off-street trail connection for people walking and biking between the Eisenhower East and South Quadrant neighborhoods.”

When complete, it is expected to improve access to a number of popular locations in the city, including Mount Vernon, Lee Center, and Alexandria National Cemetery. Eisenhower Metro Station will be easier to access as well.

The project has three goals:

  • Construct a new shared-use path between Hooffs Run Drive and Hooffs Run, behind the AlexRenew athletic field;
  • Create pedestrian and bicycle bridge over Hooffs Run and Old Cameron Run; and,
  • Mill and repave the existing path between Hooffs Run and South Payne Street.

Residents can learn more and provide input by visiting HERE through Jan. 31.

Construction is planned to start in 2025.
