Alexandria Tutoring Consortium Receives $14K Literacy Grant

Alexandria, VA – Alexandria Women for Good awarded a $13,973 grant to the Alexandria Tutoring Consortium during an April 30 check presentation. The grant will support ATC’s tutoring and literacy programs, including its Book Buddies reading program.
ATC volunteer tutors work with about 300 students across all 14 Alexandria public elementary schools, helping young readers build literacy skills and confidence. The nonprofit was nominated by Alexandria Women for Good member Eleanor Trice through the group’s quarterly “Gather & Grant” process.
“I love watching my students grow—building confidence while benefiting from the evidence-based tutoring methods used in ATC’s Book Buddies program,” Trice said.
Founded in October 2022, Alexandria Women for Good is a local giving circle that brings women together to build connections while supporting Alexandria nonprofits. Members pool donations each quarter and vote on grant recipients, while also gathering for networking, monthly happy hours, lunches and volunteer opportunities.

And a little birdie told us the next quarterly check will be going to the Miracle League of Alexandria.
