Alexandria Leaders Host EmpowerHER Women’s Health Forum

Community event on International Women’s Day connects women with health experts, wellness resources, and intergenerational conversations

Empower HER flyerALEXANDRIA, VA — Community leaders and health advocates will come together this International Women’s Day to host the EmpowerHER Women’s Health Forum, a community event focused on education, wellness, and empowerment for women of all generations.

The forum will take place Sunday, March 8, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Charles Houston Recreation Center in Alexandria.

Hosted by Alexandria Councilwoman Jacinta Greene, Alexandria Celebrates Women, and the Ivy Foundation of Northern Virginia, the event aims to help close gaps in women’s healthcare by connecting attendees directly with female health professionals, community leaders, and wellness experts.

Participants can look forward to a dynamic program that includes:

  • Expert Panel Discussions exploring topics such as intergenerational health, mental wellness, and sexual and reproductive health
  • Local Vendors offering health-focused products, services, and community resources
  • Wellness Activities designed to support physical health, mindfulness, and overall well-being

The free community event is open to women of all ages and backgrounds. Organizers encourage mothers, daughters, and grandmothers to attend together to learn about important health milestones and resources that support women at every stage of life.

Jane Collins

Jane Hess Collins is a communications consultant and coach, and holds a masters’ degree in Public Relations & Corporate Communications from Georgetown University. She is the founder and executive director of Heard, an Alexandria-based nonprofit that teaches life skills disguised as art to underserved populations. She retired from the United States Air Force in 2009.
