Basic Tools Every Construction Worker Needs

ALEXANDRIA, VA – There are some important considerations every construction worker must make on the job. As one of the most dangerous professions today, safety is of the utmost importance. Still, being aware of your surroundings and preparing for each day’s project also comes to mind. That’s why there are some basic tools every construction worker needs. Whether it’s a power drill, claw hammer, tool belt, or personal protective equipment, there are things every construction worker must have on hand to ensure efficiency and safety at the worksite.

Drills

The power drill is every construction worker’s best friend. With all the bits, drill heads, and screws on hand, you’re ready for anything. There are many top brands to consider. But make sure your power drill has a suitable battery and adequate motor power to function through resilient projects. Cordless drills ensure freedom to roam around without the need for an external power source.

Claw Hammer

Claw hammers are also essential. New workers find that claw hammers are a universal necessity due to their simplicity, functionality, and convenience. Be sure to own various claw hammers, as they come in different sizes. Whether big, small, heavy, or light, every construction worker should have an arsenal of hammers on hand to secure nails or tear down structures.

PPE

While it doesn’t necessarily encompass the tools you hold, personal protective equipment is still a basic necessity that every construction worker needs. But what is personal protective equipment? It includes face masks, safety goggles, ear protection, work boots, and safety gloves. As you might guess, there are many reasons why you need personal protective equipment in the workplace. PPE protects your hands, feet, head, face, and eyes from hazardous materials, such as dust, debris, chemicals, and more. Since construction workers face many dangerous work conditions daily, PPE protects workers from potential hearing loss and bodily harm.

Tool Belt

Don’t forget a tool belt. While often overlooked, tool belts allow you to have many tools in one convenient, easily accessible location. When you move within job sites, you don’t want to walk back and forth while searching for a tool. Not to mention, toolboxes can burden you and cause physical stress. On the other hand, tool belts allow you to focus on your work without making additional trips for other tools.
