Learn How You Can Be in a New Film About Alexandria!

ALEXANDRIA, VA – Record yourself this Saturday participating in Alexandria’s Virtual Birthday and you might be in the new film about Alexandria! The fireworks may have been canceled, but Alexandria is still celebrating its 271st birthday and the city’s resilient community with a virtual birthday party this Saturday, July 11th at 7pm.

The virtual birthday party will include concerts and poetry readings, and at 7pm, residents will be invited to sing Happy Birthday from their windows, on their porches, balconies, byways and driveways.

And we want to see it!

Join the Alexandria Film Festival, the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra & Spark Media for a special cinematic tribute to Alexandria!

Record yourself celebrating Alexandria’s big day, and your video could be incorporated into a special film presentation about the city being produced for the Alexandria Film Festival this Fall!

Instructions:

  • Just use your phone to film yourself, your friends and family celebrating Alexandria’s birthday – whether that is enjoying the virtual concerts on screens large or small, greeting your neighbors in a socially distanced way, or singing Happy Birthday from your perch of choice!
  • Make sure to film with your phone horizontal, not vertical!
