Alexandria, VA – Congratulations to our Upper School robotics team Thunderstone! They competed on February 22 at the FIRST Chesapeake VA FTC state championship, ended the event as the 1st seed in the Kamen division, and captained the state finalist alliance, which qualified them for the world championship!

But to everyone’s great disappointment, the 2020 Robotics World Championship, scheduled April 29-May 2 in Detroit, Michigan, has been canceled due to COVID-19.

The intense work of so many students still should be acknowledged, as it will benefit them in their future endeavors. For example, Adrienne Lai ’21 was selected as one of four VA Deans List Finalists. Students who earn this recognition are great examples of student leaders who have led their teams and communities to increased awareness for FIRST and its mission. These students have also achieved personal technical expertise and accomplishment. This is the second consecutive year St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes has had a student selected for Deans List—last year Abbie Henshaw ’20 was selected.
