Experience Wonder and Beauty: National Cherry Blossom Festival Returns To DC’s Tidal Basin March 20

ALEXANDRIA, VA – The cherry blossoms are something to see every year. Starting Sunday, March 20, the month-long National Cherry Blossom Festival celebrates the arrival of spring in the DMV area. It features programs that recognize traditional and contemporary arts, a welcoming atmosphere for people from all over the United States and throughout the world.

2022 marks the 110th anniversary of the gift of the trees from Japan to Washington.

At the Tidal Basin Welcome Area, which will open every day at 10 a.m. from March 19 to April 3, visitors can hear representatives of the U.S. National Park Service talk about the history of the trees. And kids can have fun with activities designed to educate them.

Ways To Celebrate the Cherry Blossoms in Alexandria

Two special programming days are returning this year – BloomBars’ Day on Thursday, March 24 and Passport DC Preview Day on Thursday, March 31.

Concessions will be available via food trucks, and a large beverage tent will be managed by Old Ox Brewery.

Organizers encourage attendees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 for the health and safety of performers. They ask that people experiecning symptoms stay home and enjoy the Festival online.
