Alexandria City Public Schools and Offices Closed Tuesday, January 27, Due to Icy Conditions
ALEXANDRIA, VA – All Alexandria City Public Schools schools and offices will be closed on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, due to below-freezing temperatures and hazardous road conditions across the region.
In a weather alert posted on the ACPS website, the division said the decision was made “due to below freezing temperatures this evening and road conditions across the region.”
Because of the closure, all in-person afternoon and evening activities on ACPS school grounds are canceled. That includes programs run by community organizations using school facilities, as well as athletic events, band practices, extracurricular activities, and other community events scheduled for Tuesday.
Schools will follow up directly with families regarding make-up dates or rescheduled events connected to school-sponsored activities.
Families and staff are encouraged to check the ACPS website and official communications for updates and any additional information related to the closure.
