Don’t Miss Alexandria’s Second Annual FREE Party for the Arts, Saturday, April 27, 11 am to 7 pm
Over 100 artists will join in annual event celebrating the arts’ integral role in Alexandria
ALEXANDRIA, VA – Everyone is invited to the second annual Party for the Arts on Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM at 11 Canal Center Plaza, on the waterfront in the Old Town North Arts District. Over 100 artists will be participating from every segment of the arts: from music, dance, poetry, visual arts, and crafts; plus family artmaking activities and games, food trucks, and more!
“This is an incredible opportunity for artists and the public to celebrate the role arts play in Alexandria,” said Jason Longfellow, president of the Alexandria Arts Alliance board.
Confirmed performing artists include:
- Alexandria Harmonizers
- Poet Laureate Zenia Azzam
- Alexandria Citizens Band
- Local Motion Project
- Alexandria’s Children Chorus
- VA Tech Jazz Ensemble
- WMPA’s American All-Star Folk/Bluegrass Band
Participating art galleries with works for sale include:
- Athenaeum / Northern VA Fine Arts Assoc
- Del Ray Artisans
- Kyo Gallery
- Galactic Panther Gallery
- Principle Gallery
- Torpedo Factory Art Center artists
- Over 40 artist vendors will be selling their individual art.
Kids activities include: painting, chalk art and other art making activities.
Alexandria Arts Alliance is a nonprofit founded to advance the arts through advocacy, collaboration,
education and marketing. Party for the Arts was developed following the pandemic as a platform to
raise awareness of the importance of the arts in Alexandria – and to celebrate its resiliency and ability
to inspire, spark change, promote health and well being, and contribute to a vibrant, thriving, and
inclusive city.
“The Alliance wants to send a big thank you to Canal Center Events, Act for Alexandria, Alexandria Office of the Arts and the Jen Walker Team for their generous support of this event,” said Pat Miller, Activation Committee Chair for the Alliance. “And everybody come on down–it’s going to be an awesome day!”
