ALEXANDRIA, VA — It was a day where art met heart—and the results were powerful.

Madison Street Tattoos’ “Tattoos for Rescues” fundraiser on April 25 brought together animal lovers, tattoo artists, and the Alexandria community for a high-energy event that raised an impressive $12,100 for the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (AWLA).

Over more than 10 hours, five dedicated artists worked nonstop, tattooing more than 50 participants, all in support of animals and pet families in need. In addition to the funds raised, the event also generated donations of pet food and supplies for animals currently in the shelter.

“This event exceeded all of our expectations,” said Stella Hanly, CEO of AWLA. “It was truly inspiring to see our community come together in such a unique way to support animals and our 80th anniversary.”

AWLA extended its thanks to the team at Madison Street Tattoo, which donated its time, talent, and 100 percent of the day’s proceeds to the cause.

The creative fundraiser will help support AWLA’s ongoing work caring for animals and assisting the people who love them throughout Alexandria and the surrounding region.
